Love At First Sight Or Is It Infatuation? by Match Maker
You are walking down the street with a couple of shopping bags, making a mental note of your expenses. Suddenly you get hit by a guy from the other end whom you didnât notice. Your shopped items fall over and he bends down to collect them.

You grasp his palm replying back âIâm Alice, nice to meet youâ. âSame here, byeâ are his last set of words and you both prepare to leave.
Now, as you turn and start walking you glance back and watch him looking over. You turn back your head and smile. At that very instant you can feel your heart racing, and the whole world coming to a stand still. Now, this is âlove at first sightâ. You are swept off your feet, feeing at cloud nine and would love to see the guy a lot again and may be the entire life.
This very emotion that comes instantly is also termed as âinfatuationâ. It gives you a larger than life feeling, itâs intense, brings an entirely titillating package and in obvious is short-lived.
Even though some might not agree but âlove at first sightâ is the other name for âinfatuationâ. What actually happens when you fall at first sight is --that you are attracted by the personâs looks and smartness. This brings the sudden urge in you that âhe/she is the oneâ or else as you might have heard many saying, âshe is the one I cannot live withoutâ.
Here are a few similar characteristics of infatuation and love at first sight is as follows:
Short-lived: Both infatuation and love at first sight is either driven by looks or else grandeur. This tends to drive you away and you are immediately attracted. However, this is generally short lived since you can get physically attracted to several people in a day and feel the same for everyone. However, if you are in true love looks hardly matter.
Ego-centric: Infatuation brings in ego and so does love at first sight. Once you are instantly attracted to someone, in the initial stages you do not find any shortcomings in the relation. However, with time as the ego factor steps in, both of you might back off the relationship. With time you might even forget the real reason behind the sudden attraction that you felt earlier. This is infatuation and love at first sight.
Emotionally drive: A major feature of first sight love and infatuation is that you tend to be emotionally driven in anything you do while you are infatuated. You might take up fight to impress, or go to great lengths to prove your love. Several people often get involved in sex during this phase. However, once the attraction is lost, the relationship starts decaying and usually it follows with a break-up.
Thus, it is necessary to stay away from the love at first sight syndrome and develop a good friendship with the person you like before confessing your love. Almost 98% of love at first sight relations wind up very soon.
