Divorce Mistakes

Do you think the traditional nuclear is the best way to go?

That is one man, one woman, married with kids.

My mom basically raised us all, but I still new my dad and thought (still do) that he was a good man.
So, ideally, if the parents are loving, don't you think the traditional nuclear family is the best way?
Also, do you think the divorce is seeing a backlash? Maybe I am delusional. But it seems like people are taking their time falling in love, making reponsible relationship choices and trying to learn from their parents (most divorced) mistakes. So I think we might be seeing a resurgence of nuclear families.
Am I being too optimistic?

Kids who don't live with married, biological parents are more than 5 times as likely to be poor, and twice as likely to drop out of school.

92% of kids who live in households that make more than $75,000 a year live with two married parents. 80% of those living in households that make less than $15,000 do not.

"Family Situation" is now the number one predictor of juvenile crime - more than race, income, neighborhood, or education level. A poor, black teen with married parents is less likely to be involved in any type of crime, from drugs to murder, than a white, middle-income teen with a single mom.

Yeah, I'd still say the nuclear family has a place. Only if you want your kids to stay in school, not be poor, and not go to jail, of course.

Having two married adults in a family does not imply that there is no extended family support. However, what we know about single parenting is that is is much, much harder to stay out of poverty and to keep your kids on the right track. It doensn't really matter if this info makes people uncomfortable. There are children to consider, and those kids deserve to have adults who care about their future.
